The Women's March is a national movement to unify and empower everyone who stands for human rights, civil liberties, and social justice for all. We gather in community to find healing and strength through tolerance, civility, and compassion. We welcome all people to join us as we unite locally and nationally. Join us on January 21, 2017.
We will meet at Madison Park in Oakland at 10AM. At 11AM we will begin our march up Oak Street to Grand Avenue along Lake Merritt. We will then march down Broadway to end at Frank Ogawa Plaza. At 12:30PM we will begin our rally with speakers, art and music concluding at 3PM.
MARCH ROUTE DETAILS
Miles for the march route: 2 miles of mostly flat terrain with an incline at Harrison st.
Amount of portable toilets: 4 Handicap Units, 38 Standard Chemical Toilets - There will not be portable toilets along the march route.
What to bring to the event?
Wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Please plan according to the weather conditions. Bring water, snacks, sunscreen.
Seating and Rest Areas: There will be a medical station about halfway through the march route to rest and get help. There is built in seating in the amphitheater and an additional entrance to rally for wheelchairs.
ASL interpreters will be present during the rally.
There will be help (volunteers/med professionals) along the way if people fall too far behind & need assistance.
Marchers can enter or leave the march route at any time. The path will not be blocked off completely.
